This Week's Featured Artist is...

World of Moments!!
This lovely little shop has some beautiful photography, cards and art, and all for a good cause!! :)
http://www.dockeryfoundation.org/

This awesome print obviously benefits Autism research by benefiting the Dockery Foundation.

And you can't beat the price!!

THere are also other lovely works of photography and more!

Click the pics for more details and let's read a little about this great artist.

* What is your shop name and URL? World of Moments www.worldofmoments.etsy.com

* What type of items do you sell? I have original artwork, photography, cards, and art made by my boys with Autism.

* What is your FAVORITE item to make? I'm not sure I have a favorite. I like it all really. But there's something extra special about sitting with my boys and helping them paint.

* How and Why You got started on Etsy? I started painting with my boys as therapy for sensory issues. I decided to try selling the art on Etsy because I wanted to share the beauty I saw in their paintings. I started selling my own art as well, finding I had a hidden talent and love for it. It's my therapy too :)

* One piece of advice for an Etsy Newbie: Hmm.. Don't get upset when nothing sells for the first 2 months. Keep going!

* What is on your wish list as a buyer and seller? As a seller, I'd love to sell my stuff (naturally!), but what I really wish is to sell to those I've not met, it's an extra compliment when a stranger finds your site and loves your work! As a buyer, I love ACEOs and other art and photography. I also love things I can give the kids (what mother doesn't?!).

* Tell us a little about your non Etsy life: I'm a mom of three very active kids. Connor is 4 1/2, Braeden is 3, and Morrigan is 18 mo going on 20 (you know how little girls are *wink*). I home school my boys and spend a good bit of the day working with them. I'm married to a very supportive husband, Richard, who knows how to put with me. :)

* Where else can we find you? Just here on Etsy really.. No big plans for a website anytime soon..

Check out her shop if you will please!!!

CPSIA Law Will hurt us ALL, not just handmade artists!

Ok ya'll. I am ALL for children's safety 100%! I am a mother and of course I want my boys to be safe and sound. But I am also a handmade artist. And I am responsible enough to know that my supplies and items are SAFE and SOUND for young children! I mean, fabric? Come on!!! Why would there be lead in my fabric?????

So here is what YOU can do! Write your lawmakers, fight this stupid law! Ask them to AMMEND the law! It is necessary but it should be exempt for handmade artists who buy their supplies from reputable sources!

Here is more info:
http://www.cafemom.com/journals/read.php?post_id=1320853&commented=1#comments
Please read, fight this and help save handmade!

And it isnt just handmade affected!

Who do you think will pay for the big companies testing?? YOU WILL! Every children's product will go up and up and be more expensive to make, thus more costly for ANYONE buying children's items!
SO this does not just affect artists!! It affects us ALL as citizens who need to fight big government!!

Do your part!!

Blog Giveaway!

Alrighty folks this is how it's gonna work!! I'm going to list three shops and their links. You need to choose ONE item from ONE shop and state what item is your favorite and why. Leave this information in the comment section of this post.

When the giveaway ends, I will randomnly choose one winner--how you ask? Well, once the deadline has arrived and we know how many comments there are, I will have my husband pick a number out of the number of comments (i.e if there are 20 comments, he picks a number between 1 and 20) and that person is the winner! Pretty easy, don't you agree?

What do you win? Oh right..you'd want to know that!

Well...because I have a wide variety of item in my shop, what you win is this:

A $15.00 gift certificate for EITHER of my shops! Mama's Little Monkeys or Fleur De Ink Click either one to check them out! The gift certificate is for the TOTAL and FINAL price of the item. Of course if you'd like something that will exceed the $15.00, I will simply adjust the price of that item by knocking $15.00 off the item! :)

So here we go:

Visit these three shops and then LEAVE A COMMENT on THIS POST ONLY about WHICH item if your fave for any of these shops and WHY! Please leave the LINK to your fave item!!

This Week's Featured Artist is...

Mountaineer Candle Company! Now I did not pick her because I am (still!) working on her new shop banners/logo.....nor because she's a member of the Cafemom Team, but because I dig her stuff! :) She very, very kindly concocted an appletini candle for me which I LOVE! It smells heavenly, looks very real and is perfect for a martini lover like me!

But that's not all the smelly greatness that is in her shop! (I mean that in a good way!)
I like to call this fella George. (Yeah, I'm REAL original!)

These are super nifty wax dipped creations that have all the smell of candles but none of the risk of the flame! Great for kids room, dorms or other non-fire friendly places!

These nifty little melts are perfect for the upcoming Turkey Day Holiday! Melt these bad boys on your tart warmer (so many jokes...) and your guests will be full of good food and yummy scents!

To find more of her great stuff please click any of the pics or visit:

Sorry no interview this time!! I've been personally and professionally busy!! :) Happy Shopping!

Weekly Featured Artist..this week it's....

Modest Milk! I found this great shop just by searching around Etsy, which I rarely get a chance to do! (Search Etsy to shop and browse? You mean other Etsy sellers can do that!?)

Well I REALLY WISH I'd found this shop when I was first nursing Eli!! This stuff would come in mighty handy! And although I could probably sew most of it myself...sometimes you just don't wanna!! :)

So she shared a little with us, enjoy! And click her pics to see the items up close and personal. Surely everyone knows a nursing mother or pregnant woman who could use this stuff!

Long Live Mama Milk!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
* What is your shop name and URL?
Modest Milk
http://www.modestmilk.etsy.com

* What type of items do you sell?
I sell a variety of items for the breastfeeding mother. Nursing cover clips, nursing bras, reminders, pads and toys. Anything to encourage moms as they breastfeed their kiddos!

* What is your FAVORITE item to make?
My favorite things to make are items for people when I know their story, a mother who is finally able to breastfeed after struggling for a long time. Or a special gift for someone who is just starting out. Creating for me is about contributing to someones story and journey with their child when I know a piece of that when I create then the creation process for me comes alive.

* How and Why You got started on Etsy?
I first got started one etsy when my dear friend and I decided to open a shop together. We'd both been crafting for awhile but the idea of a business license was a bit frightening so we took the plunge holding hands, so to speak, and since have branched off into our own little shops. One of my passions when I started selling on etsy was to connect and encourage other moms to nurture their kids through affordable items and friendly communication. One of my favorite parts selling here is the community aspect. Many of my sellers ask me questions or tell me about their experiences which makes working with etsy more then just crafting or a business but the ability to join in with other people right where they are at. I love it!

* One piece of advice for an Etsy Newbie:
My advice for an Etsy Newbie is to do your research before you set up shop. Hang out in the forums and look at what does and doesn't work with shops. Then when you open your shop participate in the forums and seek out advice on your products, when you find your niche take great pictures and renew often until you have some exposure. Etsy is a big place so make it easy for people to find you!

* What is on your wish list as a buyer and seller?
As a seller I have a long wish list of supplies I'd love to get and ways I'd like to increase my product line. As a buyer I've had my eye on these for awhile: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16781551 There is something so fun about tatoo socks. I guess it is a bit of the wild side in me.

* Tell us a little about your non Etsy life:
I am a mom to three girls. Marylou Janice is waiting for me in heaven and her twin sister Providence Joy is now two and a half and recently potty trained (yeah!). My youngest daughter, Rosemary Hope is 10 months old and is so close to walking. I enjoy teaching pre-school to my daughters, playing games with my husband and anything outdoors. My family can be found backpacking and kayaking in the summers and enjoying outdoor fire pits in the winter. I am passionate about helping parents with preemies and those who have lost children at a young age and so I create care baskets for NICU moms and am involved in some counseling groups as a volunteer to help others who have experienced loss. I am also very excited about helping women learn to breastfeed and guest speak on breastfeeding your preemie at several hospitals in the area. You may also catch me teaching a class or two on American Sign Language or interpreting select events. I like to keep busy.

* Where else can we find you?
If you visit Australia you'll see my Modest Milk Clips in a boutique but if your not in the area you can find me at
http://www.modestmilk.wordpress.com
http://www.modestmilk.shophandmade.com

I wish I'd found THESE when I was first nursing and before I blew a life savings in Lansinoh!

------------------------------------------------>
Are just downright genius and adorable!!

And this one is just because I think breastfeeding should be celebrated and rejoiced!!

So if you know anyone would need or want these items, pass along this blog and her shop!

Oh and of course...should you want to get a nursing pillow or baby bib, or other baby items....come see me!! :)

This Week's Featured Artist is.....

katherinescreations.etsy.com also known as Kaleidescope Jewels.

Let's get to know her and then we'll look at the goodies!

What can we find there? Jewlery. They are mostly gemstones and sterling silver. I also do custom orders for name bracelets and/or certain gemstone jewelry that you are looking for.

What's youre favorite thing to make? I love to make bracelets!! They add that little touch to your clothing that makes it more personable.

How did you get started on Etsy? I found out about etsy from a friend of mine that was searching the web and came across the site. She showed it to me and I was hooked. I started because I enjoy making my jewelry and wanted to share my creations with others. I love to see peoples reactions to what I have created. I love to help them make that little piece that they have been looking for. I make jewelry as a stress reliever it comforts me and relaxes me.

Any advice for an Etsy newbie? One piece of advice that I would give a newbie is to be patient it will come. It takes awhile to get your name out there and for buyers to start trusting you as a seller. Buy from others etsy sellers also to get your name out there.

What's on your wishlist both as a buyer and a seller? My wishlist as a buyer would include more gemstones of course!!! I would like to build up my inventory. As a seller to be able to have enough work to be busy but still enjoy what I do. I have seen may times where people get burnt out and don't enjoy it anymore.

Tell us about your non Etsy life! I am a mom of beautiful twins that just turned 3, wife to a wonderful husband that I have been married to for 5 years and he is my high school sweet heart! I love being a mom!!! They keep me very busy and make me laugh everyday. I love to see how eager they are to learn. I am very family orientated. All my family lives very close if not in the same town including aunts, uncles, cousins and farther down the family tree. We are a very close family we take vacations together, get together for the heck of it, and holidays are very much a huge get together!! Most of my friends are still from high school but of course I have had the pleasure of meeting new friends also. I love comic book type movies and of course the "chick flicks". I'm addicted to Grey's Anatomy!! Music is a huge love of mine I can't live without my Ipod!I also work full-time as a LPN and surgical assistant. I work for a general surgeon that has trained me in surgery with her. This was my lifetime goal as a nurse to be able to have both of my loves clinic and surgery in one job.

I am on cafemom http://www.cafemom.com/home/timestwo2005

Now let's check out her great shop!!!

Make sure you Think Pink with this beautiful piece!

Custom Made Rings...how can you go wrong with that??

This is beautiful...go look at it before it sells! Sorry, it's reserved...but convo katherinescreations if you like it!! She loves custom orders!!

As always, thanks for looking, and SHOP HANDMADE....and Please use these tags when searching on Etsy "Cafemom team" and "lartisans"! You won't be disappointed!

This Week's Featured Artist is...

Hopscotch Square! Not only is she a fellow Louisianian...her stuff is just downright cute! I am now drooling over girl items wishing I could get away with putting my boys in this apron:

Do you think my husband would be mad?

Now this I would love just for me!! A Therapy Hot or Cold Bag! Genius!

Ok..now I REALLY wish I had a girl.......this is just downright slaptastically adorable!!

A hanger for hair bows!! How cute and smart!!! And I am digging the cherries!!

All pics are clickable, so please click away and go show her some love!!

She was also kind enough to answer some questions for me!

  • What type of items do you sell? Children's Clothing and Accessories
  • What is your FAVORITE item to make? Girls Dresses
  • How and Why You got started on Etsy? I ran out of room in my daughter's closet for all of the clothes I was making her. So I thought I would share!
  • One piece of advice for an Etsy Newbie: Pictures! Definitely worth 1000 words! Make every bit of it count.
  • What is on your wish list as a buyer and seller? As a buyer, to have Christmas shopping done early for once (yeah, like that's gonna happen, but you said WISH)and as a seller...to have so much business I have to hire someone to help! =)
  • Tell us a little about your non Etsy life: Stay-at-home mom of two kids. I worked retail for about 11 years before quitting so I think it helps me a lot with Etsy. I never have time for movies anymore, but I watch House and Bones faithfully every week! I don't really get to listen to adult music anymore since my 3 yr old has discovered kids music. Very busy life between preschool, home, kids, and Etsy, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!
  • Where else can we find you?

New Featured Artist is....

Angie's Crafts!
Again, I apologize for my not doing this sooner! I tell you, I really do not know where my time goes! I had no idea Etsy shops would eat up so much time online--not even counting the creating time!

Without further ado...before the baby wakes up....
I had a few questions for Angie!

Where can we find your awesome work? http://www.angiescrafts.etsy.com

What do you sell? A variety of items such as, jewelry, scrapbook items, and glycerin soaps.

What is your FAVORITE item you make: Hmmm.....that's hard to say! I like so many different things that's why my shop has such a variety!

How and why did you get started on Etsy: How? I don't really member how I found out about Etsy to be honest! Why? I figured I'd try to start selling the things I like to make so everyone else could enjoy them as much as I do!

Do you have any advice for an Etsy Newbie: Hmmm.....I'd have to say just stick with it and don't give up especially if you're not selling a lot. It takes time and a lot of promoting!

Let's go shopping! What's on your wish list, as a buyer and a seller?: As a seller, to sell more! LOL As a buyer, to buy some Christmas presents soon!

Tell us a little about your non etsy life! (family, job, music, movies, etc) I'm a married WAHM/SAHM mom of 2 boys ages 8 & 10 1/2. I like a variety of movies & music. I enjoy dancing, scrapbooking, camping, and spending time with my family.

Where else can we find you? Cafemom page is http://www.cafemom.com/home/temptationsgirl,

Myspace is http://www.myspace.com/angiea33,

Indy Mojo is, http://www.indymojo.com/people/detailview.cfm?MMID=4070, I think that's it!

Take a look around and visit her shop! All pics will link you to the item!

This Week's Featured Artist is...

Mogen Creative! :) I'm terribly sorry that I am behind this week! I was trying to get some subjects to feature because I want to feature some artists who may not be in the spotlight as much as others!

And this weeks artist most certainly SHOULD be in the spotlight!

Whether it's royalty free digital art, her amazing artwork or a super cute piece of work done by the budding artist in the family.. this is a great place to find what you need or want! :)

Now you can learn a little about this amazing artist!

1)Tell us a little about yourself:
I'm a SAHM - proud, and thankful to be. I've been married almost 4 years, I've learned the secret to being treated like a queen in my marriage is to treat my man like a knight in shining armor - boy does it work! and I have one spirited little one-year-old daughter who discovered what a snail is today.

2) What do you create and why?
I'm an artist - both the old fashioned, paint and canvas type, and the techno graphic designer type. I think I was 7 when I really became a doodle-head. I found it was easier to consentrate in school if I was drawing, so I started doing it all the time. Lots of doodling school time, and art classes later, here I am, a grown-up mom, and still a doodle-head.

3.) What things will we find in your shop?
Featured in my shop are my most recent pieces of work. A lot of pieces I have in my shop I actually did in High school and college. But the featured work I've done in the last couple of months.

4) What is your favorite piece and why?
My favorite peice has got to be "Atlas." It's a beautiful display of daddy-child love, and the tittle reflects the image from a mom's eyes. To a mom, her kid is her world, and the man that carries that child on his shoulders is a hero. Instead of being a simple display of "I can draw something cool," this painting has a deeper meaning, and takes my art to a deeper level.

5.) What inspires you to be on Etsy?
It means I can share my art with the world, not just the local folks that might come to a local gallery show, or look at my living room wall.

6)What are your short and long term goals with your work?
Short term goal - just make a couple sales and couple of friends. Long term goal - I'd like to further go down a line of one style of art, rather than the ecclectic blend I have now, and see about getting high-quality prints available.

7) Anything you'd like to add?
Never ask a kid "what's that supposed to be?" when they show you their art. Just say "tell me about what you made." Kids are awesome at being creative; and grown-ups too often hinder that side of them.

Thank you MogenCreative for being so helpful and answering my questions! I especially love answer 7! I learned that as an early childhood educator and it is SO true! Through out the coloring books and let your children's imaginations run wild!

Now for some of her awesome work!
