Deal of the Week

Baby, it's cold outside! Well, it's cold for Louisiana anyway as I type this...of course when it goes to publish it could be 80 outside...

Anyhoo, I digress...How's about a freebie for the deal of the week???
Since it's so cold most places, and I am loving learning how to crochet, how about a nifty handmade scarf made by yours truly?

It will be made to order and I will give you some color choices (pretty much everything, because I apparently already hoard yarn as I do fabric...) Now, keep in mind, I'm still learning so I basically know two scarf patterns: a ruffle scarf for the ladies, or a traditional long scarf for anyone :)

But if I can say so myself, I think I'm learning quite well and fast and hey, can you beat a free scarf?? (That's a rhetorical question, please don't literally abuse handmade scarves...that's just mean, yarn never hurt anyone..)

Soooo, enter your comment here with a WAY TO CONTACT YOU! (email, facebook, etsy, something! I can't send you a scarf if you disappear into comment land!)

You have one week to get your comments in and then I'll randomly pick a winner by who my dog sniffs on the screen, or something more professional....

Answer me this in your comment:
What is your FAVORITE thing about fall/winter??

~~Enjoy!~~Amy

Adding some pics of my handiwork, lest you not trust me to make a purdy scarf...

Ah the cute dog distracted me.

My favorite thing about Fall is everything. The angle of the planet shifts so sunlight makes everything look crisper. Leaves change color. Temperatures drop. Beauty is everywhere and it is not too hot or too cold to enjoy being outdoors.

*wipes steak all over this comment* My favorite thing about fall/winter is the fact I can work in the garage without feeling like I'm in a swimming pool of someone else's sweat while I am out there; after all Houston does have humidity. I wouldn't have to beat a scarf, I have kids that would do that for me.

There's so much I love about every season … and yet autumn-to-winter is always a welcome time for me. The garden *finally* settles in and I have less to do there … my three-season travels die down for a few months so I'm able to really hunker down in my little hut and work on my many creations. I love that so much about this time of year. :)

While it's currently 73F here...I know it's going to cold outside and baby, I can always use a scarf! *grabs the doggie treats and begins rattling the bag*

Autumn has definitely become my favorite season. I love the long shadows that stretch through the trees and yesterday, I watched showers of leaves cascade to the ground. My two cats kept trying to catch them through the patio door! It is such a gorgeous time of year and I have seen so many unique leaves this year!

I love to be bundled up in blankets, watching a movie with family. I also love making Christmas candies and decorating the Christmas tree which I've been told I turn into an "OCD Nazi" while doing, JUST because I don't like two ornaments the same color to hang next to each other, insist that the larger ornaments go at the bottom with the smaller ones go at the top, and tend to rearrange the ones others hang on the tree incorrectly. Gosh people, decorate your own tree!

*Ahem* Where was I? Oh, yes. I love this season. Full of love and perfectly decorated Christmas trees. :)

I love that the cooler weather invites the return of slow cooking, turkies, roasts, soups and stews.

I actually enjoy all the family time. Yes, we stress each other out at times and we may or may not want to through mashed potatoes at each other but....we still love each other very much and enjoy the time we have together. I love keeping and making new traditions, the stories of years ago and the constant laughs.

My favorite thing about fall/winter is watching all the beautiful birds that come to the feeders when the snow is here.

Well as a fellow Louisianian....I'm pretending it's cold by turning my air down really low. I love snuggling up under a blanket! Oh, and let's not forget...cold weather equals gumbo weather! =)

AUTUMN! Now that I live in a place that has actual seasons and a riot of changing colors, I can justify my long-standing love of Autumn. Apple cider, hot cocoa, bright orange-red-yellow leaves, cold mornings, the fact that I can wear my awesome coat finally...Then there's Thanksgiving which means amazing food, family, decorating the tree, and watching Christmas Vacation and Elf.

What's NOT to love about this season?

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, it is still warm enough that you can have lots of fun playing in the leaves, the colors of the foliage on the trees (I live in New Hampshire and we have the best :) But what could possibly be the best thing is that it cools off at night and you get to snuggle with the ones you love :D

Fall is the perfect time to focus on what is truly important in life and the fall leaves remind me that I can be even more beautiful as I age. Summer is fun but so busy I don't take time to slow down and appreciate everything. I slow down in winter but personally become too limited in my explorations to fully appreciate life and spring is too focus on planning for summer.... Fall is the best!
