Nikon Quality Time

Life has been busy with homeschooling, being out of town and life as usual. But my trusty Nikon is usually not too far away and I have been able to snag a few good shots!

The sunsets in Gulf Shores, Alabama are AMAZING!

Snapped this one while the hubs drove 45 mph over the bridge...not to shabby!

My deep thinker...

 8 years old!

Our last sunset in Orange Beach!

Then we came home and enjoyed a quiet afternoon at Camp Salmen Nature Center. Beautiful!

 Tree bark.

Finally snapped some bees working hard!

Some pretty purple berries. No clue what they were.

Beautiful yellow flowers perfect for fall!

Like my pics, follow me on Flickr.
Hope you enjoyed some of my little photos!! Happy Fall!

May Photo Purge

Been a busy and quick month here with us! The little finished preschool making us officially homeschoolers for both boys! We wrapped up school with the oldest, and we started our summer break. School session for us resumes late June for about 8 weeks then taking the whole month of August off. I figure that works wonderfully so that when public school starts here around the 8th of August, we can enjoy the pool at our gym in relative peace again!! Also, should another hurricane strand us for days again, no worry about making up days for school!

So here's a little photo purge of what we've done!

Mostly gardening, swimming, zoo, a little redecorating and enjoying life! The crazy days are crazy but the good days are great!

Just a Little Science...and Mess....

We've all done this experiment I think, a little food dye, water and white carnations, right?

We decided to give it a try and it worked beautifully!

And it also ended up a little messy...thanks to two little boys who decided to "mix up" the water while Mommy slept in and Daddy was "resting" on the sofa.

So hopefully I can find ways to get food dye out of tile, paint and a windowsill.

We had a discussion about not interfering with a science experiment or it can alter the result!

For the next messy experiment, Mom will put things out of reach.....

January Photo Purge

January was a slow month, photography wise, as I was working for half the month and we've been fighting illness. But we had a little fun! :)

DIY Winter Decor

I've been dressing it up for winter!

I found this awesome vase at Target today on clearance. I'd been stalking it for awhile...there it was...in a random spot, for 2.98!! I saw something similar on Pinterest, and decided to give it a go!

It was easy too! Just whip up some yarn pom-poms', jab some branches in them and stick in the vase. Want to know a secret to getting the branches to stay where you want? Fill the vase with rice! That's it...easy winter decor! I can see changing this up for all the seasons!

I love this little area of my house...it's the top of my entertainment center, on one side and I love my little wintry pink yarny goodness section!! I love the vase because it looks like a cabled knit pattern! I've decorated for winter and it's so fun, since we don't do Christmas, it's nice to get to decorate for a whole season!

Here's a bit more winter fun I put up around the house:

We made melted snowmen to munch on!

Added pom poms to another Target clearance find!

I crocheted the runner and it looks perfect under the candlestick plate my sister made for me.

Close up of the plate. Isn't it lovely? Another clearance find!

Cheapy .50 snowman hanging from our ceiling fan.

Some fun yarn pom poms and snowflakes hanging on our blinds.

and some pretty roses I bought to pretty up the kitchen. I love winter, but it is a bit drab, so some pretty pink flowers will always help!!

Now to get this house CLEAN....Hah.

WIP Wednesday

I always have WIP's around here. Since I do blog ahead, I admit these pics may be behind and may no longer be WIP's (Works in Progress)....but anyhoo, its gratuituous shots of yarn and fabric or home projects, so roll with it.

Last week's WIP was the lovely cowl from Frayed Knot. It was beautiful. I have to make some adaptations for my next one because I don't like a lot around my neck, and I live in Louisiana, so a light weight yarn is better, but I had to try with this awesome blue yarn I snagged on clearance. (Deborah Norville "Lagoon".) You can get the pattern for the cowl in her Shop.

And it's finished!!

I'm a sucker for shell stitches and flowers...I love it. I'm thinking it'd make a great blanket pattern too!!

Finish It Friday

Flowers on a Rainy Day....

Made a few flowers, several for hair clips for a photo shoot for my niece, and the rest just for fun :) It was pouring while I made these, but they're a bright little fun piece on a stormy day!

If only hubs would take me out...

Then I could buy and wear this..

I am looking at this while listening to Jack Johnson woo me with his sexy voice and I'm wondering why hubby and I don't go out alone as much as we used to!? Oh right, kids, money, work..that stuff. Well I think if I slipped into this lovely shrug I could get my sexy back and have some fun!! (After carefully hanging it up!) :)

You really must check out this shop, it is full of lovely work! Simply click the pic to get to it!!

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!

PHEW!! The craft show is OVER!! Thanks to those who came and supported me!! I appreciate it! Despite these tight times, I did enough business to at least break even and it was great practice in working with customers, setting up, etc. I am CONSIDERING doing another show in May in Mississippi but I have to get more info on it because it is a HUGE show.

SOOOO, the shops are BACK open and will be having more new stuff added as I can get to it! :) Right now it is back to work at Blockhead Radio and back to work as a mommy and wife! My house has been greatly neglected due to my prep for the craft show and I need to get back in my mommy groove! :)

Now what I WOULD like you to do is to check out the BHR ARTISAN CHALLENGE! Simply CLICK HERE and then click each category and GO VOTE! I am featured in a few categories, so of course I'd appreciate some votes! :)

And don't forget to ENTER the artisan challenge yourself!!

I have not forgotten the secret giveaway on my blog!! You'll be hearing from me soon if you entered! :)

Have a great day everyone!!!
