I have only done the one so far, as I don't celebrate Halloween so the apple was the best choice for me.

Can't believe we're already IN September. Time is FLYING!

What I Made...

Despite my little one being sick and being a few days behind my normal schedule, I did manage to get a little bit done this week.

I finished up a baby blanket that's been in progress for months. I reshot some product images and have worked on some more items. I'm currently working on a Moosey hat for Eli, his 4th birthday is Monday (I can NOT believe it..)

Year Long Crochet a Long and Knit a Long

Heylo all! In case you've missed it, roughly 6 months ago I started learning how to crochet and knit. I am loving it. If I'd known I could craft while sitting on my butt watching Big Bang Theory, I'd have never learned to sew! (But then, I probably wouldn't have ever learned how to make fabric buttons, so I'm glad I did!)

But I digress, as usual....

Anyhoo, I participated in a fun Crochet a Long (CAL) where I ended up with a beautiful sunburst granny square afghan. I truly enjoyed it and now it's time to take my turn hosting!!

You need to be on ravelry to truly participate, so hop on over and join! It's free and a great place for patterns and showing off your work!

It will be a MONTHLY project that goes on ALL YEAR. Each month we will do a new dishcloth/towel/washcloth. Crochet AND knit patterns will be available, so you can do one, some, all or none!! If you do each month, in the end you'll have 12 handmade washcloths!!

Patterns will be posted and all I ask is you share your progress, pics and lessons learned in the Ravelry group!

Crochet a Long--FINISHED!

I really can't believe it's finished. I didn't think it would go that fast! I participated in the Crochet a Long from Scotti over at OxfordFamily/InnerHooker. 
88 squares of Sunburst Granny Squares surrounded by white triple and double crochets. I have no clue how many stitches, but I'm guessing thousands!

It is a perfect afghan for cold winter nights coming! I love it, and I love that it's pretty on both sides! The "wrong" side is a bit more puffy but doesn't have the window pane effect that the "right" side has. (I did that on purpose.)

Crochet a Long Progress..Nearing the End!

I can't believe I've come this far. Just about two months ago I started to learn to crochet. I'm obsessed. Ive been participating in a Crochet a Long with Scotti from The Oxford Family. I'm happy to say I'm done with all 88 squares through Round Four!! All I have to do is join them!! I can't wait to get started! I'll be joining them with the seam on the "right" side of the square so it gives it a textured look!

I'm rather happy with how they are turning out. I can't wait to finish it then curl up with my blanket and a cup of coffee..and my yarn to make a new project!! :)

Crocheting A Long

I'm participating in a Crochet a Long with the lovely Scotti from InnerHooker.  You can find the details of the how-to's on her blog OxfordFamily.
The challenge is a full size sunburst granny square afghan. Now, I just started crocheting (or hooking!) about two months ago. I absolutely love it. Why I didn't pick up knit and crochet before sewing, I don't know. For so long I didn't allow myself to learn because my time is stretched thin as is. But, let me tell you, as much as I love fabric and sewing, I think if I'd started yarn work first, I'd never have bought a sewing machine! I mean, a craft you can do sitting on your butt while watching tv??? SOLD!

Anyways, I think another reason I enjoy it, is it's purely for me, for fun, for practice. I'm sure I'll make little cotton face cloths and stuff to send out as freebies on orders, but I have no plans (yet!) to sell the things I crochet. Perhaps one day, but for now, it's just fun, a great way to learn and so fun to buy yarn! And SO Much cheaper than sewing!! Yes, yarn can be expensive, but you can get a lot of projects out of a skein of yarn, especially when compared to fabric, machine, notions, etc.

SO, here is my progress on the crochet a long! First pics are week one. Second batch are week two, and I will hopefully start week three soon!
