November Home School Theme

Naturally this month will be THANKSGIVING! This is my FAVORITE time of year! I love remembering to do the 30 days of thankfulness, learning about the history, eating yummy foods, watching great football, fall scented candles, cool weather, leaves, oh I could go on and on! So here are some Thanksgiving activities we want to try this month!

Thanksgiving Bible Printables.

Thanksgiving Number Sort

Thanksgiving Notebooking Ideas

And a ton of ideas over here on this great blog: http://www.thebettermom.com/2013/10/30/thanksgiving-freebies-free-educational-resources-for-thanksgiving/

We are only doing "school" for the first three weeks of November, then taking off Thanksgiving week so they have plenty of time to play with their public school friends and enjoy the holiday with our family.  It's a busy and beautiful month and I look forward to not much online time but plenty of in real LIFE time!!

What I Made...

Fall Placemats turned pillows! Yet another, "Inspired by Pinterest, Made by Me" item. Grab the leaf placemats from Walmart from Better Homes and Garden. Open up the seam, stuff with fiberfill, sew up the hole and viola...pillows!!

They are kid approved....

Another fun and easy fall decor idea is pinecones and faux pumpkins (also from Better Homes and Gardens available at Evil Empire Walmart.) inside a cheapy glass jar. Naturally it sits atop my crochet granny circle :)

I crocheted another granny circle to sit under my "Give Thanks" Luminary.

So I've got a few more items to put out for tomorrow and we're ready to Turkey Day away! :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone!! May you find it filled with friends, family, food, football and fun! Give your thanks to God for the awesome things in your life and enjoy the day!!

Thanksgiving Showdown Giveaway

In case you are unaware, this Thanksgiving's football game will be the Cowboys (Thanksgiving Tradition) against the Saints.

This is huge for my house. On top of the usual food, family and unbuckled pants....my husband is a *cough* Cowboys fan. (Yes, I STILL married him...) I, of course, am not. Considering we live on what is called the Northshore of New Orleans....it's a wee bit embarassing that he loves the Cowgirls. So, naturally I'm praying for a spanking of epic Black and Gold proportions.

So, I thought a little contest was in order! Your mission, should you choose to accept it...predict the winner of the Dallas Cowboys vs. New Orleans Saints game on Thanksgiving Day. I promise NOT to hold it against you if you choose the Cowboys. I promise....

Just leave a comment here with your prediction of winner and you'll receive your choice of one of the following:

Dallas Cowboys ID Badge Holder or Keychain:

or an even more awesome, New Orleans Saints ID Badge Holder or Keychain
(with mylar buttons made by Gypsy Goods!)

If you really don't need a ID holder, You can also choose a set of ponytails such as my black and gold ponytails (with embroidery by AuntiFranni!)

You could also have a set of Dallas Cowboys ponytails, but I don't have a photo of those because well....I haven't had the heart to make a pair yet...it offends my black and gold sensibilities.... :)

So get ready to get your game on...enjoy some turkey and be sure to leave your guess in a comment on THIS post! I'll use random.org to choose the winner and announce it over the weekend!!

Be sure to check out Badge Reels and my other shops (see links below my blog header) particularly on Black Friday for some special deals!

I am Thankful.....

  • For healthy children and family
  • For a place to rest my head
  • For a husband who loves me despite my flaws.
  • For a faith so strong that I am comforted even when one thinks I should be lost.
  • For a country that can and will fight it's way back to being what it once was.
  • For the freedom of speech and creativity to do what we love and what we are talented at.
  • For the ability to make my own decisions...if they are wrong, then it's on me.
  • For the smell of coffee brewing...bonus points if it's accompanied by the smell of gluten free cake baking.
  • For Black Fridays Sales---from the comfort of my PJS! (Buy Handmade!!)
  • For my friends near and far, even those I've never met who make life a little easier each day.
  • For the smell of a baby after a bath
  • For a pile of uncut fabric...it's just so pretty.
  • For America and those who hold it dear.

May you have a safe, happy, healthy and thankFULL thanksgiving!!!
